Placemat Purses

Tuesday, May 30, 2006

I have been reading about making purses out of purchased placemats, and of course, I couldn't resist trying it. Here is my first effort. The placemat and handles came from Wal-Mart. I got the palm tree at Thread Artist , and added my monogram in bamboo font in VIP Customizing software.

And this is the side view (just had to show the buttons!)

And here is the next one to be sewn. The dragonfly came with my machine, and I added the C. Don't you just love the sequins??!! The handles are gonna be clear.

For my Moma

Well I have looked and looked for the perfect card, and none of them were just right. So, I thought I would just let you know here, what I feel....

We have all had a rough go of it, for years. But age, and children, have brought me full circle. I can now see the answer to a lot of my why?'s and how come?'s. I have experienced a lot of the "I'll never do that when I become a mother". I really wanted to let you know, that I love you. We miss you, Moma!

My New Baby!!

Thursday, May 11, 2006

I have been having problems with my Viking 1+ for a while now. Tension, timing, things that have to be right for it to sew. Aaron came in from work just yesterday, and low and behold if he didn't sneak off this morning and buy my dream machine. HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ME!!! I have been dreaming of this machine, but never hope I could ever really get it. My honey is so sweet. It is the Viking Designer SE, and it will take me a while to learn how to use it. I did do some embroidery on it today, and I can't wait to try out the heirloom stitches. I think Katie needs a new daygown *tee hee*. HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY EVERYONE!!

Katie Faith's Dedication

We had such a nice time last weekend. My grandparents and dad came down for Katie's dedication service. Aaron is offshore, so I had to entertain alone, but it was still nice. Here is my sweet baby girl, in her special dress and bonnet that I made for her. Isn't she sweet??!!!

Ellen's Row Ready to Mail

Sunday, May 07, 2006

Here is Ellen's row with my addition. I'm really not happy with this one. I love the cherries but the colors are just way off from the other 2 rows. (I know the Stashbuilder's ladies are gonna fuss at me for being critical, but it's true *tee hee*). I really hope you like it, Ellen. And since I couldn't find someone to take a picture with me and the quilt, I took the picture with my kids :D

Ellen's Sneak Peek

Wednesday, May 03, 2006

Well I'm not quite done with Ellen's row, but she wanted to know what was going on with it. Here's your sneak peek, Ellen! The row is appliqued AND patchwork so this is all you get for now *tee hee*. It should be done and mailed by Friday.

2nd April Robin Finished

Tuesday, May 02, 2006

This round belongs to Laura E. She mentioned in her questionairre that she liked the red in the center fabric. I tried to pull that color out in my round. I had such a hard time coming up with a border for this one. Rounds are really difficult for me. Rows are easy peasy! I hope you like it Laura :)

First of the April Robins Done

Monday, May 01, 2006

This is the first of the completed April robins. This is Kim's row. She requested sampler blocks in jewel tone hand-dyed or batiks. The first block on the left is Hunter's Star (paper peiced), second block is Anvil, third block is Heavenly Stars ( a pain in the butt!), and the fourth is Double Square (quilter's cache). I hope you like it Kim!
